Ten Local Startups to Give Their Best Pitch at Calgary Innovation Week Launch Party

October 27, 2025 by Knowlton Thomas Leave a Comment

Since 2010, Calgary’s Launch Party Top 10  has recognized the region’s most promising early-stage startups.

These ventures “embody bold ideas” and are “shaping the future of Calgary’s economy,” according to organizers of Calgary Innovation Week.

Calgary Innovation Week, slated for November 3rd through 6th, offers a front-row seat to local people and companies showcasing breakthrough technologies and solutions.

This year’s Launch Party, a capstone of the annual weeklong affair, will feature a live pitch on stage from ten finalists.

The finalists, originally unveiled late last month, are as follows.

  • Deep-tech upstart DAYY Photonics develops advanced light source solutions that power innovation across defense, semiconductor, and medical markets.
  • HazTrack aims to enhance the industrial sector through advanced sensor technology, improving efficiency and sustainability.
  • PataBid develops AI-powered estimating software that helps contractors bid electrical and mechanical work smarter and more accurately.
  • Possibility Neurotechnologies’ flagship product, Think2Switch, is a mobile app that transforms off-the-shelf EEG headsets into brain-computer interfaces, enabling users with physical disabilities to control devices and express themselves using only thoughts.
  • Symbiotic AI is a Canadian Digital Health company that develops artificial intelligence-enabled clinical decision support solutions to improve health care decisions.
  • Tarkka Manufacturing Solutions designs and manufactures advanced wheelchair seating systems that cut evaluation-to-delivery time from months to a single bedside session.
  • Taste the City simplifies discovering new culinary experiences through digitally guided tasting routes to help locals and visitors connect with a city while supporting restaurants and culture.
  • Tutred connects students with the right tutor, while using AI to automate up to 95% of teaching overhead spent on lesson planning, homework and quiz creation, grading, and student profiling.
  • Aiming to be a real-life Magic School Bus, VRCORE Education is a Virtual Reality Free-Roam Field Trip company.
  • VL Energy delivers AI-powered emissions monitoring software that helps industrial companies reduce costs and meet regulatory requirements.

Winners of the Pitch Award, Alumni’s Choice Award, and Community Choice Award each receive glory and a small cash prize.
