Calgary Cleantech ZS2 Expands South Through Partnership with US Manufacturer

February 16, 2026 by Knowlton Thomas Leave a Comment

Data from the International Energy Agency suggests that the construction industry is responsible for up to 40% of global C02 emissions.

Back in 2023, we first reported on ZS2 Technologies, a Calgary-based innovator of building materials that launched to help address this concern by developing low-carbon construction systems designed for fire resistance and climate resilience.

By early 2025, ZS2 Technologies had unveiled $9.9 million in grant funding and the second generation of its magnesium cement building materials as the Alberta entity was named a finalist for Venture of the Year: Scaleup at the 2025 Alberta Cleantech Awards.

This year, ZS2 is expanding its North American manufacturing footprint into the United States through the integration of manufacturing assets from Alabama’s Supreme Insulated Panel Systems.

The move comes in response to rising demand for the company’s flagship product, according to Scott Jenkins, chief executive officer ZS2 Technologies.

“Demand for higher-performance building materials is accelerating across North America as the industry responds to climate risk, insurance pressure, and evolving building performance expectations,” he says.

Expanding manufacturing capacity to meet this demand in United States markets helps accelerate adoption of these systems while strengthening domestic access to advanced construction materials, according to Jenkins.

“Expanding manufacturing capacity into the United States strengthens the industry’s ability to access advanced building systems at scale and supports long-term material innovation across the built environment,” the CEO stated.

Tom Dowling, head of Supreme Insulated Panel Systems, says that “Working alongside ZS2 allows us to advance MgO panel systems while continuing to deliver the quality and reliability our customers expect.”

Production capabilities at a facility in Mobile, Alabama are being phased in alongside standard third-party certification and qualification processes, according to a statement from the firms.
