A health technology startup based out of Calgary this month unveiled new billing software designed for Alberta physicians.
The software product, powered by artificial intelligence technology, aims to enhance billing accuracy, automate compliance with provincial rules, and increase revenue capture—all while reducing administrative burden.
RevNote AI says the flagship tool is tailored to the specific billing requirements of Alberta’s multifaceted landscape including the Schedule of Medical Benefits.
The Canadian startup’s platform helps physicians recover missed revenue, generate audit-ready documentation, and minimize time spent on billing tasks, according to company spokesperson David Tran.
“With over 400 codes in the SOMB and frequent updates, the average Alberta GP is unknowingly leaving up to $30,000 on the table each year,” suggests Tran.
RevNote AI’s billing copilot uses natural language processing and a deterministic rule engine trained on the Alberta SOMB 2026 fee schedule to capture this revenue which is often missed in manual workflows.
Integrating alongside existing electronic medical record systems without technical installation, RevNote AI runs as a browser sidecar, bypassing privacy impact approvals by processing only de-identified data.
The system operates across three steps. First, RevNote instantly integrates with your EMR. Next, the tool can listen to voice or read handwritten text using “Medical Voice Engine” technology. Finally, the software structures and formats a de-identified SOAP note.
“Physicians deserve tools that do the heavy lifting for them, so they can focus entirely on patient care rather than wrestling with billing complexities,” Tran stated.
