Calgary Tech Innovator QuantaSense Eyes Next Steps Following Aerospace Acceleration

July 27, 2026 by Knowlton Thomas Leave a Comment

QuantaSense is preparing to raise capital and begin sales of its flagship product this autumn.

The Alberta startup is a member of the second cohort of the Aerospace Accelerator Program, powered by the Aerospace Innovation Hub.

Cofounder Abdul Mohamed has been working on the technology behind QuantaSense since his research work at University of Calgary, where he earned his PhD.

Mohamed is developing advanced amplifier technology that can help detect extremely small signals in radio frequency and microwaves.

“We build really, really good amplifiers that take really small signals, depending on the user, and make them really big so that they can measure it on the other side,” Mohamed recently explained to Innovate Calgary.

This technology could have applications across radio astronomy, satellite communication, and quantum computing.

For example, observatories aim to collect data from stars and planets, but these signals are typically weak by the time they reach Earth.

“You really have to start thinking about space, satellite communication, deep satellites,” Mohamed said. “If you’re sending them far away, or maybe sending astronauts to the Moon or Mars, that’s when these amplifiers really play a heavy role.”

Calgary’s Aerospace Innovation Hub launched in 2024 to support the sector’s regional ecosystem and is today operational at the Calgary International Airport.

Through the Hub’s Aerospace Accelerator Program, companies work to strategize and refine company objectives; maximize and grow precious resources of time, money and expertise; develop and execute plans to raise further capital; and expand their intellectual property assets to grow and scale their business.

Previous cohort members include Threshold UAV and startup-to-watch North Vector Dynamics.
