MedEssist Partners with Uber Direct to Revolutionize Pharmacy Deliveries Across North America

November 4, 2024 by Robert Lewis Leave a Comment

In a step toward enhancing healthcare accessibility Calgary-based pharmacy software platform MedEssist has announced a strategic partnership with Uber Direct, Uber’s delivery platform.

This collaboration enables pharmacies across Canada and the United States to leverage Uber’s expansive delivery network for rapid, reliable, and cost-effective medication delivery, catering to patients’ needs without imposing monthly fees on participating pharmacies.

Earlier this year Calgary.tech named MedEssist one of 10 Homegrown Calgary Startups to Watch in 2024.

The partnership, debuting at the National Community Pharmacy Association (NCPA) Conference in Ohio, will introduce an integrated Uber Direct feature within the MedEssist Pharmacy dashboard. The enhancement aims to streamline delivery options, allowing pharmacies to offer medication deliveries during evenings, weekends, and holidays, making healthcare access more convenient than ever.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Uber Direct to empower community pharmacies with the ability to scale their delivery operations,” said Joella Almeida, CEO of MedEssist. “This collaboration allows pharmacies to provide their patients with even greater convenience, ensuring that critical medications are delivered when they are needed most.”

Bernie Huddlestun, Head of Uber Direct for the US and Canada, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that “This partnership will make it easier for pharmacies across North America to meet the needs of their customers, with the speed and reliability of Uber’s delivery facilitation platform. By joining forces, we’re aiming to unlock more efficient and accessible medication deliveries in an increasingly digital world.”

The MedEssist dashboard, now available at no cost to pharmacies, integrates seamlessly with Uber Direct, allowing community pharmacies to request same-day deliveries without setup fees or ongoing charges. This service promises significant impact for both urban centers and rural areas, empowering local pharmacies to provide essential healthcare products directly to customers’ doorsteps quickly and efficiently.
