In July, we reported on John Redfern stepping down as chief executive officer of Eavor Technologies for “personal reasons.”
Redfern, a cofounder of the Calgary-based geothermal technology company, downshifted to a strategic advisory role after leading his organization for nearly a decade, including securing $138 million from Canada Growth Fund earlier this year.
In the interim, Eavor cofounder Robert Winsloe assumed the role from Redfern.
But the rising upstart, rife with momentum, was without a permanent CEO.
That problem has now been solved.
The Alberta cleantech this month officially appointed Mark Fitzgerald as chief executive officer, effective in his new position starting October 20th.
“We are pleased to welcome Mark Fitzgerald to this role at Eavor,” stated Doug Beach, chair of Eavor’s board of directors.
Fitzgerald brings to Eavor three decades of executive leadership experience within the energy sector, where he most recently served as CEO of PETRONAS Canada following stints at Penn West Energy, Acclaim Energy, Canetic Energy Trust, Chevron Canada Resources, and more.
Beach believes that Fitzgerald’s “operational and international experience will augment Eavor’s team as they advance and scale its closed-loop geothermal technology worldwide.”
Fitzgerald, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta, says that he is “honoured to join Eavor at such an important time of global growth and market expansion.”
“This is an exciting opportunity to lead a company on the forefront of making clean, reliable, affordable energy available everywhere,” the incoming CEO remarked.
Eavor’s team is “dedicated and innovative, and the talent in the company is truly world-class,” according to Fitzgerald.
“I am looking forward to progressing the company’s vision,” he said.
