Five Canadian companies cracked this year’s list of the world’s top green technology innovators, including two from Alberta.
TIME partnered with data firm Statista on the second annual ranking of the World’s Top GreenTech Companies, naming 250 top performing companies operating within the green technologies wheelhouse.
While only five Canadian companies made the list, representing just 2% of the total, it’s worth noting that statistic includes the top two companies ranked: Vancouver-based nuclear energy startup General Fusion and Calgary-based Eavor, which is developing a geothermal energy system that keeps fluids contained by sending water into deep underground wells to heat then drawing it up through a separate well.
Eavor, notably, is the only Canadian company to make TIME’s list both years.
“We’re proud to be recognized by TIME as one of the top five GreenTech companies globally,” stated Eavor CEO Mark Fitzgerald.
“This recognition reflects the progress we’re making as we advance our closed-loop geothermal system, build strong partnerships, and expand into new markets,” he stated.
Other recent accolades for the Alberta firm include being named “Overall CleanTech Innovation of the Year.”

Calgary’s Carbon Upcycling also made TIME’s list. The 2026 Global Cleantech 100 company had a “momentous” 2025, raising substantial capital and breaking ground on its first commercial facility before securing further funding in April.
Brookfield Renewable Partners and Toronto’s Hydrostor were recognized as well.
