Innovate Calgary’s Aerospace Accelerator Program Returns to Support Local Startups with Capital, Guidance

July 6, 2026 by Knowlton Thomas Leave a Comment

After a successful first year, Innovate Calgary’s Aerospace Accelerator Program has returned.

The two-year program takes startups with technology-driven solutions and adds funding, development resources, professional training, and expert support.

The AAP is supported by a network of partners including financiers like Calgary Economic Development’s Opportunity Calgary Investment Fund and Prairies Economic Development Canada, as well as industry collaborators such as WestJet, the Calgary Airport Authority, and Chapter AI Ventures.

“Do you have innovation that addresses challenges faced by the aerospace sector?” asks Innovate Calgary. “If you need a boost to launch your solution on the market, this accelerator program may be for you.”

The program promises up to $200,000 in grant funding, salary support, and access to the Aerospace Innovation Hub, all alongside “robust curriculum focused on sharpening your business skills and ability to run a startup.”

Through the program, companies work to strategize and refine company objectives; maximize and grow precious resources of time, money and expertise; develop and execute plans to raise further capital; and expand their intellectual property assets to grow and scale their business, according to a statement from Innovate Calgary.

Previous cohort members include Threshold UAV and startup-to-watch North Vector Dynamics.

Led by founder Mac Hunik, Threshold UAV is dedicated to creating innovative and scalable aerial imagery solutions specifically designed to support the agricultural industry.

The company develops software that transforms low-cost drones into swarms capable of capturing rapid and reliable imagery across broad-acre farmland.

North Vector Dynamics, meanwhile, is developing an un-crewed aerial system platform to combat militarized drones. The company, which emerged from stealth last year, is leveraging advancements in autonomous system technology to develop low-cost effectors that can be deployed against a variety of UAS threats.
