Europe’s Arcadis has signed a multiyear contract with the City of Calgary to advance the management of the city’s infrastructure portfolio.
Based in the Netherlands, Arcadis delivers sustainability-focused data-driven design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets.
By deploying Arcadis’ intelligent asset management software, Enterprise Decision Analytics, Calgary will become the first municipality in Canada to use the platform across multiple asset types, including transportation networks, water and wastewater systems, emergency services, public parks, and civic buildings, offering comprehensive oversight within a single digital system.
The decision to adopt EDA comes as a strategic response by Calgary to the growing challenges associated with updating and maintaining aging infrastructure, while delivering balanced budgets and reliable services, according to a statement from the municipality.
“After completing a comprehensive procurement process, the City of Calgary is excited to work with a world-class partner such as Arcadis to continually improve its asset management capabilities,” stated Steve Wyton, Manager of Asset Management Planning at the City of Calgary.
Over a two-year term (with extensions up to 12 years), the platform will enable the city to streamline asset management.
Consolidating data across departments, EDA has the potential to reduce disruptions to residents, improve the efficiency of existing infrastructure, and extend the life of critical assets, according to Rob Corazzola, Global Sales Director of Digital Intelligence for Arcadis.
“Through EDA, the City of Calgary can confidently make forward-thinking and data-backed decisions that optimize spending, extend the life of critical assets, and enhance the quality of life for its residents,” Corazzola said.
The technology can predict infrastructure failures, like potholes and water main breaks, while also streamlining planning, reporting, and regulatory compliance.
Operating in over 30 countries, Amsterdam’s Arcadis is comprised of more than 35,000 architects, data analysts, designers, engineers, project planners, and sustainability experts.
